The short version. She MahJong is a place to learn and play American MahJong. We don't run advertising or analytics cookies, we don't use third-party trackers, and we never sell your information. Playing on your own stays on your device. The only things that become public are club listings and forum posts you choose to submit — and a moderator reviews those before anyone else sees them. We store one small flag in your browser so we can remember you dismissed our privacy notice.
This statement covers the She MahJong website at shemahjong.com. If you have any question about it, email us at [email protected].
Playing on your own. The tutorial and single-player games run entirely in your browser. Your tiles, moves, and progress are not sent to us.
Multiplayer rooms. When you create or join a room, the display name you enter, your in-game moves, and any chat messages are sent through our server so the other players in your room can see them in real time. Rooms are temporary: they live in the server's memory only, are never written to a database, and are discarded when everyone leaves or after a period of inactivity. Please don't share personal information in chat.
Club directory submissions. If you list a club, we store what you enter — club name, city and state, an optional contact name, a contact email, meeting details, and notes. A moderator reviews each submission; if approved, it is shown publicly in the directory. Only submit other people's contact details if you're authorized to.
Forum posts. Questions and answers are anonymous. We store your post text and an optional display name (it defaults to "Anonymous"). A moderator reviews every post; approved posts appear publicly. To fight spam and abuse, we briefly record the network (IP) address a post is sent from and use it for rate-limiting; it isn't shown publicly.
Anti-spam checks. If enabled, the forum uses Cloudflare Turnstile to tell humans from bots. Cloudflare processes a challenge token for that purpose under its own privacy terms.
Email notifications. When a club or forum post is submitted, our server may email a summary to our moderators through an email provider so they can review it. If you email us or leave a contact address with a question, we'll use it only to reply.
We do not use advertising or analytics cookies, and we don't embed third-party tracking. The one thing we keep is a single flag saved in your browser's local storage to remember that you dismissed the privacy notice, so it doesn't reappear on every visit. Clearing your browser's site data removes it.
Some links — clearly marked, in the Boutique and elsewhere — are Amazon affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you, and Amazon handles that activity under its own privacy policy. This helps keep She MahJong free.
We use a small number of reputable providers to run the site, each of which processes data under its own privacy terms: our host and database (application hosting and the PostgreSQL database that stores approved clubs and forum posts), Cloudflare (DNS and the Turnstile anti-spam check), an email provider (to deliver moderator notifications), and Google Fonts (the site loads fonts from Google, which may receive your IP address as part of serving them). We don't sell or rent your information to anyone.
She MahJong is family-friendly but is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email [email protected] and we'll remove it.
Approved club listings and forum posts stay published until they're removed. You can ask us to correct or delete something you submitted by emailing [email protected] — include enough detail to find it and we'll honor reasonable requests. Multiplayer room data disappears on its own when the room closes, and anti-spam IP records are short-lived.
We take reasonable measures to protect the information the site handles, but no website or method of transmission is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.
We may update this statement from time to time. When we do, we'll change the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated statement.
